Cash for Hummers

LOL! yet
another example of why the government has no business whatsoever in the marketplace. isn't it ironic that the "American" government seems to have barely a clue as to the purpose of government?
in this case, some clueless governing authorities thought it was a good idea to introduce this "Cash for Clunkers" plan. now here's a real no brainer! does Congress actually get paid for their "work"?
for the life of me, i cannot understand how this is supposed to help the environment, when the autos being traded in are just going to be resold to someone else, and the person trading in their SUV will most likely replace it with another SUV because they just might need/want an SUV... DUH! 8-)
this plan sounds about as smart as introducing government subsidies for any auto manufacturer pushing one of the latest fads, hybrid cars, which have huge batteries that cost mega bucks to replace every few years or so, and then contaminate the landfills.
i think We the People might be better off if the Federal Government was run by Looney Toons! 8-)
the authoritarian control freaks (socialists & fascists) have been advancing government control over the "free market" (which arguably, America hasn't had since... ?) in nearly every aspect of private life. coming soon will be another move toward complete control over the individual's health freedoms.
i wonder if there is any area of private life which has not yet been infringed upon... i cannot think of one, can YOU?

Kind of ironic isn't it?

Funny also that my old 1998 honda accord w/205,000 miles on it doesn't qualify. It's too efficient.

So, in theory, my taxes could (and likely are) going to someone who is turning in their big SUV for another big SUV. Lovely!

Source: John Stossel's Take

President Obama touted his "Cash for Clunkers" program as a boon to the environment that will "help lessen our dangerous dependence on foreign oil, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the quality of the air we breathe."

To most people, that might mean the program would encourage the sales of new, high-mileage cars. But lest we forget, this is a government program. And that means loopholes. Patricia Murphyreports that Hummers -- along with other brutes like the Chevy Silverado and Ford Explorer -- are considered "fuel efficient" enough to qualify for the program.

The guidelines in the House-passed bill state that large SUVs and trucks, typically considered gas guzzlers in everyday conversation, qualify for the $3,500 credit, and in some cases the $4,500 credit, depending on the trade-ins that come through the door for them. New Category 2 trucks -- like the Hummer H-3, Ford Explorer, Chevy Silverado, and Toyota Tundra -- qualify if they get at least 15 MPG combined, and get at least one mile per gallon more than the car or truck being traded in.

So next time you see a Hummer on the road, give its driver a wave. He's helping to "lessen our dangerous dependence on foreign oil, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the quality of the air we breathe."

tyranny deception

i'm a Christian and i recognize that IF the Federal government ever used public money to build church buildings and/or purchase Bibles, they were breaking the law, which is against the tenants of Christianity.
of course, mainstream Christianity largely misinterprets the clear message of Christ, which was that He did not come to destroy God's laws (matt 5:17-20).
what kind of "church" did they build? which denomination? why should an American citizen who has dispensed with observing pagan "holidays" like Sunday, Christmas, Easter, & Halloween, pay for such a "church"?
oh, you don't agree with my faith? then i rest my case in that it is inherently wrong for the STATE to meddle in the matters of CHURCH. this includes marriage and any other church matter.
putting "separation of Church & State" semantics aside, the controversy is really pretty simple: religion is personal and individual, and of NO business of the STATE.
this fact is one of the fundamental reasons why the Theo-Cons & Neo-Cons (generally fascists) are as dangerous to liberty as are the Neo-Liberals (generally socialists).
however, the Neo-Amerikan masses are continually bombarded by the left-right dichotomy deception through the controlled media, and remain largely deceived over the real enemy of liberty, which is TYRANNY.
noteworthy truth: freedom fosters liberty; control fosters tyranny.
this truth is exemplified within "both" sides of the largely and worldly accepted political spectrum and deception of "conservative" vs. "liberal". the track records speak for themselves, and history continues to repeat itself time and time again.
i personally believe that the real battle between liberty and tyranny is spiritual. as i said, i am a Christian, so i personally view the above liberty-tyranny relationship as parallel to: Christ brings liberty; satan brings control.
therefore from my perspective, tyranny knows no political boundaries as it easily infiltrates each and every political activism group and party, turning mere mortals who have common libertarian values/philosophies against one another.
i have personally observed this as being evidenced within various church denominations, ministries, and organizations, as well as secular political groups such as the Libertarian Party, the Ron Paul Revolution, and now i am an outside witness to this occurring in the Republican Party.
perhaps people largely make the tragic mistake in misunderstanding the fact that NO manmade political organization or church denomination corners the market on TRUTH -- none can, for it is impossible for any human or group of humans to do so, even though many continue to attempt such folly in both the secular and religious arenas.
will the human race learn this? or are we all doomed to continue perpetuating the deception which is either being advanced by global elite powers in control of the nations and world banks OR from a spiritual arena?
i honestly do not know at this point. what i do know is that i am impassioned to continue learning more about the principles of liberty in both the secular and spiritual realms. i advise and encourage everyone to do likewise.
in liberty,

The separation of church and state principle is one held in high esteem by all Democrats as a foundational principle, even thou it is not explicitly or implicitly in the U.S. Constitution. In fact, one only need look at the actions of the founding fathers - those that wrote the document that liberals have been twisting ever since. For instance, the U.S. Capitol building was specifically designed to hold church services on Sundays and was used for that very purpose into the 20th century. Even Thomas Jefferson, whom secular progressives love to take out of context, approved wholeheartedly of this use. Back in those days, federal money was used specifically to print Bibles as well, and the federal government promoted Christianity. They didn't "establish" it, they just promoted it. After all, the pilgrims sailed here for that reason, no? It's worthy to note also that Thomas Jefferson himself made federal money available for the building of churches and the printing of Bibles. Actions speak louder than words. Thus, schoolchildren do not learn of such history in indoctrination centers these days.
Today, Democrats love to paint Republicans as the white, Christian party:
So Democrats are for the so-called separation of church and state, except when they're not. As a matter of fact, they have a favorite place to campaign. From The Detroit News: Detroit candidates head to church in search of votes.
Candidates for offices such as mayor and City Council made the final push today, mining votes at churches and other events to try and galvanize a weary electorate to participate in Tuesday's election, which is expected to attract low turnout.
Mayor Dave Bing was the big name among several candidates who attended the Greater Grace Temple mega church on the city's northwest side. Bing said he wasn't there to "talk about politics" and asked for prayer to help him make the right decisions to help save the city.
Other candidates such as City Clerk Janice Winfrey made the service, as well as several contenders running for city council, including Saunteel Jenkins, Charles Pugh and Raphael B. Johnson, who were introduced by Greater Grace Bishop Charles H. Ellis.
Pugh, the former news broadcaster who has been leading all council candidates in one recent election poll, received the warmest applause at Greater Grace when he was introduced.
Pugh said that despite scandal and the federal corruption probe at City Hall, the election features "a good crop of competent young, sharp people who are ready to lead."
Of course they're not there to politic. That's why the news article is in the paper. Because it's no big deal. Ironically, these are Democrats - a party that supports murder of the unborn, discrimination by race, gender, sexual orientation, etc., promotion of the homosexual agenda, all Biblical abominations - going into a church to seek votes. I really do not want to know the kind of people that attend Greater Grace Temple. Do they have Rev. Wright guest speak there?

Noteworthy quotes of LIBERTY to remember:

"And what country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms! The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -- Thomas Jefferson

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." -- Thomas Jefferson

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), 1755

"If men, through fear, fraud, or mistake, should in terms renounce or give up any natural right, the eternal law of reason and the grand end of society would absolutely vacate such renunciation. The right to freedom being a gift of God, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave." -- Samuel Adams

"To suppose arms in the hands of citizens, to be used at individual discretion, except in private self-defense, or by partial orders of towns, countries or districts of a state, is to demolish every constitution, and lay the laws prostrate, so that liberty can be enjoyed by no man; it is a dissolution of the government. The fundamental law of the militia is, that it be created, directed and commanded by the laws, and ever for the support of the laws." -- John Adams, A Defence of the Constitutions of the United States 475 (1787-1788)

"False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

Can it be supposed that those who have the courage to violate the most sacred laws of humanity, the most important of the code, will respect the less important and arbitrary ones, which can be violated with ease and impunity, and which, if strictly obeyed, would put an end to personal liberty... and subject innocent persons to all the vexations that the guilty alone ought to suffer?

Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. They ought to be designated as laws not preventive but fearful of crimes, produced by the tumultuous impression of a few isolated facts, and not by thoughtful consideration of the inconveniences and advantages of a universal decree."

-- Cesare Beccaria, Dei delitti e delle pene, [On Crimes and Punishments] ch.38 (1764) Translation is as quoted by Thomas Jefferson in his _Commonplace Book_, 314 (G. Chinard ed. 1926), which was "the source book and repertory of Jefferson's ideas on government." Id. at 4.

Noteworthy quotes of TYRANNY to remember:

"This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future." - Adolf Hitler (1935)

"Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed." - Sara Brady, Chairman, Handgun Control (to Sen. Howard Metzanbaum, The National Educator, Jan 1994, Page 3)

"Gun registration is not enough… Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of firearms is the goal." - Attorney-General Janet Reno (December 10th, 1993 [AP])

"From the White House: What health insurance reform means for you"

Mr. President, with all due respect...

NO! Nationalized health care means more loss of freedom -- in this case, our unalienable health freedoms!

Please tell me:

• Why should We the People trust the government with control over our unalienable health freedoms, when its alphabet soup organizations like the FDA & AMA approve poisons to be included in our foods & medicines?

• Why should We the People trust the government with control over our unalienable health freedoms, when we know minimal control will eventually grow into maximum control? "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." -- Lord Acton

• Why should We the People trust the government to effectively and efficiently manage our health freedoms for us, when health care costs were not a problem before the government got involved in the first place, and further when it cannot even properly manage the national economy, or for that matter nearly anything it attempts to manage?

We the People who acknowledge and understand the War on Liberty, which has existed since the dawn of man, and which includes the unalienable right to life, will continue to resist the ever continuing advance of socialism & fascism in America -- it is our duty as Americans to do so!

JUST SAY NO TO TYRANNY!

On Jul 29, 2009, at 12:29 PM, President Barack Obama wrote:

Dear Friend,

If you’re like most Americans, there’s nothing more important to you about health care than peace of mind.

Given the status quo, that’s understandable. The current system often denies insurance due to pre-existing conditions, charges steep out-of-pocket fees – and sometimes isn’t there at all if you become seriously ill.

It’s time to fix our unsustainable insurance system and create a new foundation for health care security. That means guaranteeing your health care security and stability with eight basic consumer protections:

  • No discrimination for pre-existing conditions
  • No exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles or co-pays
  • No cost-sharing for preventive care
  • No dropping of coverage if you become seriously ill
  • No gender discrimination
  • No annual or lifetime caps on coverage
  • Extended coverage for young adults
  • Guaranteed insurance renewal so long as premiums are paid

Learn more about these consumer protections at Whitehouse.gov.

Over the next month there is going to be an avalanche of misinformation and scare tactics from those seeking to perpetuate the status quo. But we know the cost of doing nothing is too high. Health care costs will double over the next decade, millions more will become uninsured, and state and local governments will go bankrupt.

It’s time to act and reform health insurance, drive down costs and guarantee the health care security and stability of every American family. You can help by putting these core principles of reform in the hands of your friends, your family, and the rest of your social network.

Thank you,

Barack Obama

US Federal Budget - BEWARE Deceptive Emails!

you might have already received an email having a subject line containing something like "Subject: FW: Please read this and pass it along."

funny how these kind of emails are nearly always biased toward one agenda or another... just like contemporary journalism! 8-) i guess we're so heavily indoctrinated into such an US vs. THEM mindset that it is very difficult to think outside that deceptive box.

the one i received today (below my signature) is obviously biased toward what Amerikan politicos would generally call "Conservative", in that it criticizes -- and rightly so -- the various wasteful and illegal spending within the US budget.

a call to action statement was also included, "Here’s where to save money, start with these departments!"

but i ask, WHY? shall we discontinue certain federal government departments simply because it is the desire of a particular political or philosophical whim of some people? by what standard should federal government spending and/or departments be cut?

the real answer is pretty simple: the federal government should be cut back to its legal Constitutional limitations... PERIOD! however, often when this answer is given, there are often mixed reactions dependent upon one's bias and/or agenda.

for example, when one states the fact that there is no Constitutional provision for the federal government to be involved in Public Education, a typical ignorant reaction is generally to ignore this as well as the fact that there are different levels of government having specific jurisdiction, while advancing the argument that it is our duty as a nation to provide education for all American citizens -- and apparently in many cases, for illegals as well.

similarly, when one states the fact that ever since the end of WWII, America has engaged in wars called "police actions" without any formal declaration of war, as mandated by the Constitution, the presenter of said fact is often charged with "disrespecting our troops". further, since WWII the federal government has engaged in several wars designed to have no victory conditions (aka: Endless Wars -- Drugs, Terror, Poverty, Hunger, Illiteracy, etc.), all of which can be summed up as an ongoing massive War on LIBERTY.

it seems people tend to support Constitutionally limited government only when it suits their particular philosophy and/or agenda. ironically, the email said absolutely nothing in regards to the legal mandate for a Constitutionally limited federal government! if We the People continue down this slippery slope, we can be sure that America will not recover from heading down a road of certain economic and social destruction.

getting back to this deceptive email i received, i also noticed when looking at the Wiki 2009 US Federal Budget chart, that if one were to sum both the Global War on Terror (4.75%) and the US Department of Defense (16.85%) budgets, we get a total result of 21.6% for military expenditures, which is larger than the largest pie slice of 21.05% for Social Security. perhaps the US Federal Government split this into two separate groups for a particular reason? (i call it deception! ;-)

this said, at least national defense is actually a legal Constitutional provision and power of the US Federal Government, so long as Congress and Executive branches adhere to the rules. i would imagine there would also be a major cut in the military budget should these limitations also be mandated.

regardless and as suggested by the email, if we only cut the un-Constitutional programs which this "side" fancies, it would total a budget cut of $338.3 Billion, which appears like a great cut, albeit it entirely arbitrarily derived.

however, according to David Walker, ex-US Comptroller General, if the federal government was cut back to its Constitutionally limited powers, it would total a budget cut of ~66%.

according to Wiki, the 2009 US Federal Budget expenditures were ~$3.1 Trillion. therefore, if the proposed Constitutional Budget cut was passed, it would total a budget cut of over $2 Trillion!

i'm certainly not mathematically nor economically gifted, however it appears to me that if this were done, the total revenue of ~$2.7 Trillion could be reduced by nearly one-third, which would be a budget cut of nearly $1 Trillion US Dollars per year to pay down the ongoing national debt, now estimated at ~$11.3 Trillion, which could be accomplished within around 15 years! once the national debt was paid off, that ~$.7T per year could reduce the burden of the American taxpayer.

media pundits and political talking heads have been challenging the opposition to the ongoing "economic stimulus plans" which are sending us into an ever exponentially climbing debt for an alternative to the economic plans of both the Bush and Obama administrations... well, this seems like a no brainer, eh!

so by all means... Please read this and pass it along to everyone you know, and every time you get another deceptive email which claims to contain "intelligent" political answers which we should pass on to our elected governing authorities.

in liberty,

8-)
